W.C Fields said,"You can't cheat an honest man". But it's done daily.
The Ponzi scheme has been around for 89 years and you would think the Securities and Exchange Commission would be aware of such schemes. Why did they not heed Harry Markopoulos warning that there was something wrong in Madoffs investments? The information was given to the SEC as far back as 2000?
The people directly involved in the investigation of Madoff should be the ones trying to give the answers. The Agents in Boston and New York should be the ones in the hot seat.
Now that the SEC has been exposed as being a little incompetent, how many othere schemes will they expose. How aggressive is SEC going to be? What procedures are now going to be followed?
I bet there are plenty of schemes out there to keep the SEC working hard to find them, that is before someone else tells them where to look.

Declaring conspiracies where corruption in government is suspected these days earns you jeers and eye-rolls. No matter how compelling the evidence may be, circumstantial evidence is no longer evidence. Start looking too deeply into an elected official's dealings and your marked, immediately, as a "black helicopters, tinfoil beenie wearing" loon. But rest assured, our Corrupticrats will use every agency to investigate us if we so much as sneeze the wrong way. IRS, FBI, NSA, all your tax dollars at work and all on your doorstep if you fall out of love with your officials. Remember, nothing happens accidentally. It's all done for a reason. It all has a purpose. It's done ON PURPOSE!
